Terms of Service — Curling Stars Online

These terms are an agreement between you and Curling Stars Studio Inc. ("we", "us") of Ontario, Canada, covering the Curling Stars Online service at curlingstars.com and its subdomains (the "Service"). By signing in or subscribing you accept them.

1. What the Service is

The Service is the browser edition of the game Curling Stars, plus a members' hub with cloud save, friends, stats, chat and online multiplayer, in a free demo and a paid tier. The Steam, Google Play and any future iOS editions are separate products with their own stores, prices and terms; neither purchase unlocks the other.

2. Your account

• You sign in with a Google account; we offer no other method. Google's terms apply, including its minimum age (13 in most countries, higher in some). The game itself is rated for everyone; the age rule comes from Google. If you are a minor where you live, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you.
• You are responsible for everything done under your account; sign out on shared devices.
• Your public handle must not impersonate anyone, infringe a trademark, or be offensive; we may change or remove one that does.
• One account per person. Do not sell, share or transfer accounts.

3. Subscriptions and payment

• The paid tier costs CAD $0.99 per month or CAD $5.99 per year, plus any taxes calculated at checkout.
• Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. Cancel any time from /account → Manage billing. After cancelling, paid access continues until the end of the period you paid for, and you are not charged again.
• Payments are processed by our merchant of record, [MERCHANT: Shopify or Stripe — confirm], under its own terms and privacy policy. We never see your full card number.
• Price changes take effect at your next renewal after at least 30 days' notice; cancel before then if you do not accept.
• Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy.
• If a renewal payment fails, your account returns to the free tier until payment succeeds. Your saves are kept.

4. Licence to play

We grant you a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to play the game through the Service. You may not:

• copy, download, mirror, redistribute or sell the game files, or run them anywhere other than curlingstars.com;
• reverse-engineer, decompile or modify the game, or bypass its access controls;
• use bots, cheats, exploits or automation in multiplayer or on the leaderboard;
• scrape, overload or attack the Service.

All rights in the game, its art, music, code and the Curling Stars name remain with us and our licensors.

5. Your content and conduct

• Your saves. Game progress is yours to keep and export (see the Privacy Policy). You give us permission to store and sync it so the Service works.
• Register-a-Star. The game lets you type in real people's names, clubs, cities and email addresses. Only enter information about others with their permission; you are responsible for it.
• Multiplayer, chat and handles. Be decent. No harassment, hate, threats, spam, sexual content, impersonation, or posting other people's private information. Chat is not moderated in real time, but we act on reports.
• We may warn, mute, restrict or ban accounts that break these rules and remove content. Serious or repeated breaches are not refunded.

6. Availability and changes

We rely on Google, Netlify and the merchant of record; we do not guarantee uptime, and may change, add or remove features, venues, modes, or the free/paid split. If we discontinue the paid Service we will give at least 30 days' notice and refund the unused part of any annual subscription.

Cloud save is "last write wins": playing the same save on two devices at once may overwrite one of them. Keep an export if your progress matters to you.

7. Ending your account

You can delete your account any time from /account (see the Privacy Policy). We may suspend or terminate accounts that break these terms. Sections 4, 8, 9 and 10 survive termination.

8. Disclaimer

The Service is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties, including about fitness for a purpose or freedom from errors. Nothing here limits your rights under consumer-protection law where you live, including Ontario's Consumer Protection Act.

9. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim connected to the Service is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect losses, saves lost to third-party outages, or unauthorized use of your Google account.

10. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable there. Disputes are heard in the courts of Ontario, unless the consumer law where you live entitles you to your local courts. Please email us first.

11. Changes to these terms

Material changes are announced on /account or by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Using the Service after that date means you accept them.
